The square of the correlation coefficient that measures the proportion of the variation in one variable that can be explained by the variation in another variable. It can range from 0, which implies no linear relationship, to 1, which indicates a perfect linear relationship. In quantitative research, the partial coefficient of determination is the proportion of variance explained by introducing a new variable, i.e., the difference between the variance explained by the old variables and the variance explained with the addition of a new variable.
